lifting & stabilizing a sunken barn floor

filling void beneath and lifting the floor

This home owner, located in rural Lower Mainland, reached out to True Level Concrete to address the sunken concrete floor in their horse stables. The barn floor had sunken by a few inches which left visible gaps between the stable floors and walls.

This property recently got over saturated by rainwater which compacted and washed out a lot of the soils beneath the barn. The soil wash out caused massive voids beneath the barn floor which meant that there was hardly any structural support for the stables. The voids beneath the concrete floor in the barn also allowed for rodent infestations and cold air to seep in.

Eventually, this home owner wants to renovate and fix up the stables, but that can’t be done if they’re not *stable*.

This homeowner reached out to us in need of a convenient and lasting solution for their stables. Our concrete repair solutions are non-invasive which allowed our crew to complete the whole project without having to relocate or disturb the horses. Of course, these horses had never seen PolyLevel in action before.

barn floor lifting step by step

  1. Our specialist did a thorough assessment  to determine the best way to fill voids and re-lift the floor: PolyLevel foam.
  2. Our crew arrived on site, marked off the area, and installed ports into the floor. Luckily, the horses were able to stay safe and warm in the barn as we worked on their home.
  3. Our crew carefully injected PolyLevel foam underneath the sunken concrete to fill voids, lift, and level the slabs.
  4. The empty space under the floor slabs was filled with PolyLevel and then lifted over 3.5 inches to match up with the structure.
  5. Once the concrete was structurally stabilized, the crew finished off with flexible joint sealant to repair any cracks and patched the holes.
  6. The  result was a perfectly levelled and stabilized concrete floor, ready for use within 15 minutes of the repair.
